JACKS PADDOCK – JULY 2007

Running late as usual, we arrived at Jack's Paddock at 7pm on Friday 13 th, we come through the gate and Vic came over the radio to welcome us in. Arrived at the campsite to find Bill & Helen, Rodney & Natalie, Craig & Wendy, and Richard & Margaret (visitors) already settled for their 2 night stay. Bob H and Vic J were also at camp on Friday night but both left before bed time.

This year we shared the site with a Horse riding group, great for the kids who were able to get a ride on both Saturday and Sunday. The downside was that the horse group had land rights to the fire pit and cabin (where they slept). Friday night was a cold night along with first thing Saturday morning. Eggs and bacon was the requirement on Saturday morning cooked on the open fire of course. Graeme and Chris, The Wombats, and the Hyde’s all visited on Saturday during the day and all left before dinner.

Bob H returned Saturday afternoon and a couple of hours later Craig & Nicole turned up with the kids, both to stay the night. Helen and Wendy were very busy taking care of the fire with their pine cones. Helen collected them and Wendy placed them into the fire. We had a roaring fire Saturday night. Plenty of red wine and port was drunk on Saturday. Sunday morning was raining but not as cold as Saturday morning. Sunday morning we all had eggs & bacon cooked on the fire again except for Bill who donated his egg to the campfire. By 1pm Sunday everyone had left for home. I must say a very relaxing couple of days.
